 Hello Families,

Some of the exciting things that we did this week were:

-  engaged in working with multiplying and dividing decimals.  Students did a great job learning and practicing their skills, both in word problem and numerical form.

- having our first netball session!  Students absolutely loved taking part in this opportunity.  They learned basic rules and the positions on the court.  Next week we have two more sessions that will help build on the previous week's skills and have a fun time too! Students have taken it upon themselves to show leadership and write proposal to purchase some netball equipment for our school.  Stay tuned for updates!

- researching extreme weather!  Students selected a type of extreme weather that interested them (tornado, hurricane, blizzard or flood) and investigated how their chosen event develops/occurs, how it affects humans and animals, how to keep yourself safe during an event, as well as looked in to some historical information about the worst event in Canadian history.

- continuing students' learning about puberty changes and both the male and female reproductive systems. Students have been doing a great job asking questions and engaging in the learning.

- making Mother's Day cards!  Ask you child about the fun new art technique that they learned to create their beautiful card.  Enjoy your day Moms :)

- beginning our exploration of Alberta trees and forests by brainstorming all of the ways that they are valuable to our world.

- filling gout camp group preferences that will help teachers create groups for our time at outdoor school.  Students also took part in several discussions about packing lists, activities and what they are looking most forward to.

- continuing to look into the upcoming provincial election.  Students looked at election artifacts that some brought in, discussed credible media and disinformation and how the provincial election works, ie. MLAs, political parties, ridings/seats, and the job of the government.
